The letter of James calling the Church to action

After spending just less than a year studying the book of Galatians, Pastor Cj has been in prayer seeking God's guidance for our church's next steps. He is thrilled to share that this Sunday, August 16, 2026, we will dive into the introduction of the book of James. We’ll explore key elements such as the Author, the Audience, the Setting, the Dates Written, and the Purpose.. A pivotal verse in this discussion is James 2:18, in which James highlights that true faith is revealed through one's actions, illustrating the inseparable nature of faith and works. James states in 2:18, GNT 18 But someone will say, “One person has faith, another has actions.” My answer is, “Show me how anyone can have faith without actions. I will show you my faith by my actions. As long as God keeps guiding us, we'll be diving into the book of James. We’d love for you to join us and grow together in God’s Word and Truth!

1 Day Mission Trip Roswell & the East Mountains

Pastor Cj and Ron are excited about the upcoming 1-day event on September 26, 2026. Cj would like to encourage the Church to be in prayer about how you can serve this year.  GNT 1 Corinthians 12:4-7

4 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit gives them. 5 There are different ways of serving, but the same Lord is served. 6 There are different abilities to perform service, but the same God gives ability to all for their particular service. 7 The Spirit's presence is shown in some way in each person for the good of all.

Feel free to add your name to the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board out front! Pastor Cj and Ron are kicking off a 4-week training series on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 6:30 PM. It’s all about supporting each other and getting better at sharing the Gospel so we can feel more at ease doing it.

Proverbs 27:17“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”

This proverb reminds us that relationships with fellow believers sharpen and strengthen our faith. We challenge and encourage each other to grow spiritually through honest conversations and loving correction. Unity among believers is one of the key characteristics that demonstrates God’s work in the Church. When we come together in love and purpose, we reflect the character of Christ and become an effective force for His kingdom.

Psalm 133:1“How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!”

One day is all about spreading the love of Christ with those around us—it's all about actively sharing the Gospel! Although the Bible doesn’t specifically say “sharing his message with neighbors,” verses like Romans 15:27 and 1 Peter 4:10 highlight that since we’ve enjoyed Christ’s spiritual gifts, we’re encouraged to reach out and support others—both spiritually and materially. This definitely involves sharing the good news and personally witnessing. James tells us what good is our faith if we don't do anything with it?

Young adult Bible study

Let's give a warm welcome to Wylie & Becky Flen as they kick off their new ministry with our young adults! Pastor CJ and Lexi are throwing a cookout at their place on June 28 to wrap up the Active Church Member Study. After that, on Sunday, July 5, Wylie & Becky will dive into a study of the book of James. They'll tackle some important life skills like dealing with challenges, handling temptation, controlling our words, budgeting, cultivating patience, and the art of effective prayer.

Women's Thursday Morning Bible Study

Greetings! Have you missed the Thursday Women’s Bible Study sessions? The group meets every Thursday at 10:00 AM. Currently, they are exploring a book by Rev. Dr. William B. Brunsson called The Silent Years. Their focus is on understanding how 400 years of silence set the stage for Christmas.

Emmanuel Baptist Portales Bus Minisrty

Emmanuel Baptist Portales is thrilled to introduce an exciting new bus ministry! Every Sunday, Dusty Reese and Fernie Tapia will provide transportation for children ranging from 1st grade all the way up to 18 years old. Your children will be picked up and safely brought back home following each Sunday School and Church session. Sunday School begins at 9:30 AM, and the morning service typically concludes around 12:30 PM.

Fernie and Dusty have recently undergone background checks. Additionally, cameras have been set up on the bus to ensure the safety of both the children and our volunteers. The staff members interacting with the children have also completed their background checks and are stationed in the Church Office.

Feel free to contact Dusty at 575-714-4488 or Fernie at 575-760-4564; we would be delighted to welcome your children to our program.

God provided us with a double rainbow rhe first night of VBS 2026

The rainbow first appears in Genesis 9:12–17 as God’s covenant sign with Noah after the Flood, symbolizing His promise never again to destroy the earth by flood. It represents God’s mercy, grace, and faithfulness.

The Shekinah glory refers to God’s visible presence among His people. In Ezekiel 1:28, the prophet describes seeing “the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day” as the likeness of the glory of the LORD. In Revelation 4:3, a rainbow encircles God’s throne, symbolizing His majesty and holiness.

The Shekinah glory is frequently associated with a rainbow, a creation that only God can bring forth. Given that a double rainbow is such a rare and breathtaking sight, we, as believers, embrace the idea that Monday evening represented a remarkable display of God’s presence—a time when His glory was revealed to us in an extraordinary manner.
